2009-11-06 - Join the Rock River Chapter in the ADOPT-A-SOLDIER Campaign!
Throughout
the month of November, the Rock River Chapter of the American Red Cross is
taking part in activities intended to recognize our brave servicemen and women.
In conjunction with The Postal Shoppe, the Red Cross is participating in the
Adopt-A-Soldier campaign. This initiative – established in 2001 following 9/11
– assists local families by providing discount or completely free shipping to
families of local military personnel, serving in harm’s way in the Middle East.

The
Rock River Chapter will have the VidiTalk Project available for military
families who would like to send a video message to their loved one stationed
stateside or overseas. A valid e-mail address for the serviceperson is all that
is needed to record a two and a half minute video.
Serving
members of the military and their families was the first mission of the
American Red Cross more than 125 years ago and it remains a core part of the
Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces mission today. The Red Cross serves and
supports members of the military, veterans, and their families by providing
emergency communications, comfort and assistance each day. Last year, the Rock
River Chapter assisted 575 military members and their families with information
and support in times of crisis.
